ADDO ELEPHANT PARK SAFARI

The Addo Elephant National Park is situated in the dense valley bushveld of the Sundays River Region of the Eastern Cape. The main attraction of the Park are the African elephants, but there are many other species represented such as the Cape buffalo, black rhino, but unlike the elephant, these species are more active and easier to see by night. The Park offers exciting night game drives and these are included in the Ecotours SA packages.

Safe from the relentless persecution of the past, the grey goliaths of the bush now roam in peace. The original elephant section of the park was proclaimed in 1931, when only eleven elephants remained in the area and these have now increased to over 350 individuals.

There are also many antelope species that include kudu, eland, red hartebeest and springbok. In order to balance out the ecosystem, lions were reintroduced into the Park recently together with a number of hyaenas. One of the shyest carnivores in the Park is the leopard which has always managed to survive in the area. The Park has been greatly expanded and now stretches southwards to include an Indian Ocean marine reserve where whales and dolphins can be spotted in season. One of the great things about this Park is that it is Malaria free.

So join Eco-tours SA on a get-away to this heavenly haven of peace where the evenings are punctuated by the strident howl of the black-backed jackal, and the francolin's clacking call heralds each new dawn. We offer a number of packages as outlined below, all of which may be combined with a Garden Route Tour as well as time in the Cape Peninsula.
